LSU Cake

Purple and Gold

Purple and Gold

Here in Louisiana, Purple and Gold are sacred colors. GO LSU TIGERS! Anyways, as you can guess the recipient of this cake is an LSU fan. I used the Wilton flag pan. The icing is Pillsbury funfetti vanilla. I iced the whole cake with white first. I then mixed violet, red, and blue to get a dark purple. After it sets for a couple hours it gets darker so no need to try and get it quite this dark from the start. I used golden yellow and orange to get the gold color. I used chocolate icing and tinted it black for the flag pole. For the stars around the bottom I used tip 16 and alternated colors (if you don't have two tip 16's you can use 16 and 17 so there isn't a lot of tip changing.) The gold stars on top are done with the 3 star tip. and the flag pole can be done with any tip, it just depends on how you want it to look.
Now this cake is far from perfect, but I only had 3 hours notice that this person needed a birthday cake.
