I made this cake for a friend's daughter's first birthday! I had to do some research on this little bug before I started to get a bunch of angles to work with. I made the body with a ten inch round pan on the botom and added then a "soccer ball " pan on top and cut around to even edges. Her head was a Styrofoam ball that I covered with buttercream icing. Her body is covered with buttercream icing, a bit stiffer than usual to give the look of fondant. Her eyes, hair, and nose were made the night before from fondant and secured with skewers. They had to be transported in small paper towel lined bowls to withstand the 2 hour drive LOL! I added the bow on her back to make her dressed for a party. She also had edible yellow sparkles all over for a cute "glow" Legs were simply formed from chenille stems. She was transported in 2+ pieces an assembled for the party!
