Why should you buy a used cake pan on eBay?

- On eBay you'll find almost every cake pan that has ever existed
- You know exactly what you're getting (and you know it'll work... ;-)
- You'll probably use it only once, so why even think about buying a new one?!

My Little Pony Birthday Cake

I made this My Little Pony birthday cake for my daughter. To put the picture onto the cake I used a coloring in page I printed out then I pricked the image with a pin onto the cake using the printed out page. I then used a piping bag and piped the black outline onto the cake using royal icing and black food coloring and let it dry. I then used lemon juice and different food colorings. I thinned out the remaining royal icing and did what is called flooding technique where you pipe all the different colored icings into the places they are meant to be. I did find that using a wooden skewer to get the icing into tight places helps a lot. After a bit of practice this technique is rather easy and can be a lot of fun.

My little pony birthday cake was made using three Butter Cake quantities cooked in a deep slab tin. The outline was chosen by my five year old daughter. All the icing is Vienna Cream.

The eye is self drawn and colored and stuck onto plastic then put onto cake. Mane and Tail is Vienna cream icing and extended onto the background for effect - handy for excess little fingers who love the icing at parties. The flowers were artificial flower.

My Little Pony Birthday Cake

My mom had a large piece of glass that she would make our birthday cakes on growing up. They were some of the fondest memories. She would decorate the whole glass with what ever theme we picked. Now that I have my own children I have my own glass and have decorated my children's cakes. When my daughter chose My Little Pony birthday cake for her seventh birthday I didn't know where to start. So I found this web site.

I used two 9x13 cakes and cut out the main part. The excess cake I flipped around to use for more main and tail. I didn't use any stencils, it was all free hand so it is pretty shaky lines. I used fondant tools to smooth the icing out and pull the colors through on the tail and mane. I used toothpicks to smooth out the icing of the eye.

We used white icing and buttercream colored with pink and purple Wiltons Color gel. We had several bowls of all different shades of pink and purple. I iced the main areas with pink for mane and tail and purple for the body. Then used icing in Ziploc bags with tip cut out for outline. My daughter did the sprinkles on mane, tail and grass. She really wanted "Fizzy Pop" pony so I used the tube icing and tips for that.

I made a three layer checkerboard cake from a box mix to start. After cooling I trimmed the rounded tops off of each layer and iced each layer. I piled all the rounded pieces on top of the cake for a domed roof effect and then applied a thin layer of buttercream on the outside of the cake.

I covered My Little Pony birthday cake with white fondant. I then used a circle cutter to cut out pink and purple tiles for the roof. I also covered the cake board in green fondant for the yard and made little flower covered bushes in the yard. I used food coloring pens for a lot of the detail work. I also found smaller than normal plastic My Little Ponies for the yard. It was a definite hit at the party!

My Little Pony Birthday Cake

One of my twins wanted a My Little Pony birthday cake for her 5th birthday so this is what I came up with. First I baked a sheet cake using two cake mixes. Then I frosted it with butter cream frosting. I covered the bottom half of the cake with waxed paper and sprayed the top half with blue color spray then I frosted the bottom green. It would have been better to spray the bottom with green color spray but I ran out.

After that I used the flower tip to make flowers around the grass. I also used a writing tip to put the yellow in the center of the flowers and to add the grass at the top of the green and in various places around the green part of the cake. I made a rainbow at the top using the colors my daughter wanted. I used the #12 tip to make the clouds. I had a little My Little Pony figurine my daughter got from McDonalds that we put on the cake. I added the shell border and it was done my daughter loves it!

My Little Pony Birthday Cake

My daughter wanted a My Little Pony birthday cake for her fourth birthday so I took a picture of a pony from her coloring book and downloaded it into my computer. I then used a greetings program to enlarge it like I was going to print a poster.

Once it was enlarged I printed it out taped it together and then I baked two 13 x 9 cakes and put them side by side on a board. I placed the template on top of the cakes and cut around the outside edge of the cake. It was then ready to frost. I used the colors my daughter wanted and this is how it turned out. I enjoy showing my friends and family the creativity.

My Daughter wanted a Rainbow Dash cake for 5th Birthday. I bought the Wilton cake tin from the US on eBay. The tin was 21 years old but in great condition. Wilton doesn't actually make My Little Pony birthday cake designs any more.

I baked the cake the night before then I decorated it with the icing. I used ready made icing and just tinted the icing with the colors that I needed. I did the outline and then I piped the icing. It took three hours to ice but my daughter loved the cake when she saw it the following morning and so did her little friends. I was very happy with this cake!

My Little Pony Birthday Cake

This My Little Pony birthday cake was done off of a party plate design. It was 2 9x13" cakes fitted side by side on a board, iced in "whipped" icing which is made from a box of mix manufactured by Wilton.

It took two of these boxes of icing to do the job. I otherwise drew and filled in with tinted icing and then added highlights with food safe airbrushing of food coloring.

My Little Pony Birthday Cake

This 9x13 My Little Pony birthday cake is easy to make. Freeze cake before you start. Simply cut out a triangle for the ear from the bottom of the cake and cut a slant off the top left corner. I used white frosting as a base over entire cake. The mouth is red shoestring licorice. The eye is made with purple shoe string licorice purple sugar and black jelly bean pupil a red jelly bean makes the nostril.

I colored frosting pink, yellow and green and spread on with a knife for the mane. I sprinkled pink sugar on the pink parts of the mane to add a bit of sparkle. The ear I used pink sugar to form the inner part of the ear. On the neck I put a few heart sprinkles as each My Little Pony usually has something special on its hind quarters. In addition I poured 1/2 yellow cake and 1/2 chocolate cake into the pan so kids could have a choice.

I made this My Little Pony birthday cake for my 3-year-old daughter who absolutely adores horse and ponies. This is a cupcake cake made by assembling cupcakes in a square and then putting the frozen buttercream (using the frozen buttercream transfer method) on top of the frosted cupcakes.

My Little Pony Birthday Cake

I made this My Little Pony birthday cake for my daughter Chloe on her 3rd birthday. I used four round cakes (I only have round tin), using a chocolate mud cake recipe. I drew the pony I wanted to scale, to make it easier to follow. I started with the head, cutting the cake into the shape required and then the body and the legs.

I covered the pony with butter icing orange for body pink. For the mane I piped the mane and tail and was exited at the result. There was a chocolate heart covered in coloured foil that was on the front leg but my little girl ate it off before the party and before I could take the picture.

The eye is a piece of card; I drew the eye onto it and then covered it in contact and cut it out; it worked great!!! I didn’t put it on the My Little Pony birthday cake until the last moment just in case it went funny but it was fine for three days later until we managed to eat it all.

I also put candy stars and stuff on the rear of the pony to match the real pony’s marks. Everyone at the party was speechless not to mention a bit jealous. Have a go; it isn’t as hard as it looks. I hope I’ve given enough info for you all.

My Little Pony Birthday Cake

This My Little Pony birthday cake is just a round cake made from a mix and then the standard Wilton frosting recipe. I used Google and clicked on images to find a photo of a My Little Pony that I liked and printed it out.

A page from a coloring book would also work great. Then I used clear cake decorating gel to trace the outline of the pony (piping the gel right onto the paper on top of the image). Then I flipped the paper over onto the top of the frosted cake and patted lightly to leave the image on the cake. Then I just filled in with star tips, etc.

My daughter wanted Pinkie Pie - but I could have traced this same image and colored it and added the pony marks of any pony.

I like choosing a color for the base icing - rather than leaving it white.
