Original Tiger Cake

For my son’s 1st Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet, he and his father made this awesome Tiger Cake, of course, because he was a Tiger Cub…They had to do all of the cake baking, decorating and clean-up with no help from me, the mom. It was very fun for me to watch!

They started with a 2 layer yummy pound cake mix-baked as directed on the box. They used 2 boxes to be sure they had plenty of cake. They frosted the cakes with made-from-scratch cream cheese icing. They bought Wilton Fondant and they colored the fondant with orange food coloring gel (fondant and coloring gel can be found at Michaels or Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby). They used regular canned , spray icing in black and white to draw the tiger’s face.

Their beautiful cake won a ribbon for Most Scout Themed at the Blue and Gold Celebration and the boys were so proud!
