Pink and Brown Polka Dot Cake

by Alicia
(Wellston, Michigan)

This was meant to be a practice cake. My friend was planning a birthday party for her 2 year old daughter, Josie, and I asked if I could make her a cake as a way to practice for the cake I was to make for a graduation the following weekend (also submitted- can be seen in the polka dot section).
I used two boxed mixes and layered the cakes- covered them in chocolate frosting and chocolate flavored pre-bought fondant (goldaskitchen.com) where I learned that I would not be able to cover a 14 inch layered cake with this form of fondant because it's much thinner, much more heavy, and harder to work with than the white. Glued the flowers and polka dots on with water and piped the words on each letter.

This was my second solo cake.
