Pink Masquerade Cake

For my friends 40th birthday party, she wanted to celebrate with a masquerade party.   She wanted the cake with the same theme, but she wanted it to be very girly too.  What better than shades of pink.

To make the mask, I bough a cheap party mask from the party store.  I cut fondant out to lay over the mask taking care to cut the eyes out.   After drying a painted it with luster dust and finished it off with royal icing decoration.  I “glued” the stick on with the royal icing too.

The masks on the cake, I used a cookie cutter to cut them out.  Air brushed them silver and added royal icing designs on them.

The cake is covered in butter cream with fondant accents to give it more of a party feel and a butter cream ribbon as the final touch.
