I used a box yellow cake, caramel filling, and for the crumb coat I just used the Wilton icing that you add butter and milk to. I made two 9' x 9' pans and put the caramel filling in between. Then I put the crumb coat all over the cake and then covered it with the fondant. For the heart, I just made an extra pan of cake and used an old cookie cutter I had to get the heart shape. I then covered it with the buttercream crumb coat and put fondant on it. I cut the polka dots out using whatever I could find and made the "D" by tracing it out on the fondant with the toothpick. For the balls around the cake, I just rolled them in my hand and stuck them on using water! Also, don't forget your dowel rods!! I always seem to forgot these but luckily remembered to use them before it was too late (they give your cake balance and keep the layers from sliding). :)
