Popcorn Box Cake

Popcorn Box Cake

I made this Popcorn cake for my son's 8th birthday. We took him & his friends to the movies and afterwards we had cake, juice and a pinata.

I got the idea for the cake from this very website. I baked a 9 x 13 cake, let it cool then frosted it with buttercream icing(I didn't have any experience with fondant). For the stripes I used fruit by the foot and I popped a large bag of popcorn, stuck it to the icing and for the rest I melted butter and marshmallows in the microwave and poured it on to the popcorn so it would stick, it also gave it a "buttered popcorn" look!

For the little sign in the middle I just printed my son's name "Justin est. 1999" and cut and pasted it to a piece of card board and put it on the cake.
