My daughter is a princess and I decided to make her a princess cake for her birthday. I baked three 8" round cake and layered them with pink vanilla icing between each layer. Then I iced the entire cake with pink vanilla icing. I took a large round tip and made polka dots with white vanilla icing around the entire cake. I did not use a pattern, I just freehanded the dots, staggering the rows so I would get a good design. I finished off the bottom edge with a star tip and white vanilla icing. Looking back, if I had it to do over, I would have used a larger round tip and just done dots around the edge as well, but either way it turned out ok. Once I had iced the cake, I added a crown on top that I found at Target. I said "Birthday Girl", which my daughter loved. I am a VERY amateur cake decorator, but I think this little princess cake turned out very well.
