Scooby Doo where are you?
My niece turned 6 this December and she absolutely loves Scooby Doo. After seeing some excellent cakes of Scooby Doo on this site, but not liking the cake pans available, I decided to find a suitable picture of Scooby Doo, enlarge it and make a guide to cut the cake by. I also had to make my own cake board because the cake was slightly too large for a store bought board.I then used gift wrap to cover the board. I used the Wilton 11x15x2" pan using 2 Betty Crocker chocolate butter box cake mixes and a 9x13"pan using one Betty Crocker yellow butter cake mix. Once baked I placed one horizontal and one vertical to fit the guide. I cut the cakes by placing the guide covered with plastic wrap over the cake. I then used chocolate fudge icing for the crumb coat. I made a batch of marshmallow fondant and Wilton's brown gel color to make the right Scooby Doo color, separating a few piece to make the collar and the outlines. This was the hardest cake I have made to date, but my favorite.
