When my son insisted on a Sonic cake, I looked all over town for a Sonic cake but did not find one. We went online and copied a Sonic picture from a coloring page online then blew it up to fit a sheet cake size (legal size). I made homemade marshmallow fondant(found recipe online) laid it over the cake for a super smooth finish. I have found that if you make the homemade fondant it is better to leave it in the refrigerator for at least a day to get nice and cold. It is tough to roll out but it is a lot more durable then if u roll it out right away warm, it tends to tear when warm. Traced the image with black piping gel and gently laid on fondant cake. Then my son and myself colored in the black lines with paint brushes dipped in food coloring. Sonic stuff is hard to find and he really wanted this picture on his cake. He was so proud that he helped decorate his own birthday cake and everyone thought it was so cool. Keep an eye out for my next cake in Oct. I am going to attempt a Wizards of Waverly Place themed purple and fushia castle for my daughter.
