My son wanted an alien spaceship cake for his birthday. So, after checking out other cakes this is what I came up with. I used a sheet cake for the bottom with fondant frosting and stars cut out. The alien spaceship is “floating” on a cake stand and is a round cake shaped to look like a spaceship. It is also covered in fondant.
Both the base and the spaceship are air brushed. The top of the cake is just a plastic bowl adhered with frosting. Inside the spaceship I sculpted aliens with fondant and a control panel.
There are planets on wires to simulate the spaceship flying through space.
The planets are made of fondant colored different colors. All the kids loved it!
