(South Africa, Northern cape)
Me and my Aunt bake this Car's theme cake for my son's 2nd Birthday.
I baked 2 flat chocolate cakes, she used the 1st cake as base and the second se cut out for detail, (the top and roundings of the car )and then we build the body of the car.
We decorated the cake at first with plain icing, but then we had to you use hard icing to keep the body together. To get the colours we used food colouring and mixed it with the icing. This wasn't easy, the red ended up as pink, so after the icing hardended we coloured the cake by means of painting the food colour on the icing.
For detail we used sweets, oreo cookies with liquirise and smarties for the tyres, liquirise for all the black frame works on the car and I bought plastic eyes (in cracy store) for the windscreen.
We baked little cupcakes for the children to eat, and kept this cake as souvenier.
