Squashed Teddies
My daughter loves teddy-bears, so we found a teddy-bear cake similar to this one in a book for her birthday. We started by baking two box cakes. We dyed some fondant yellow for the bears. We then molded the body parts separately. We used an edible marker to draw the eyes/nose/mouth. We used apricot jam as glue, but found that some pieces were far too heavy, so used toothpics to assemble the bears. We sandwiched the two round cakes together with cream cheese frosting. Then arranged the bears around the cakes and made them appear as though they were squashed and trapped and were trying to escape. We then frosted the top, and then placed the 'winner' bear on the top. My daughter & I, had so much fun making this cake together.
