To start I made a 2 tier cake. You will need the plates and columns to do this. One cake was vanilla, and the other chocolate. I tinted the icing a teal color to frost the entire 2 cakes. I then piped on purple shells for the border, and used the star tip to pipe purple coral. I used orange icing to make flowers, and yellow icing for smaller flowers where I needed some fillers, and all around the base of the columns. I also piped flowers on the top of the cake and placed Ariel in the center of them. I then piped small white dots to look like pearls (or bubbles). I wanted the cake to be very colorful, so I planned out my colors ahead of time. I also put small silver Dragees in the center of each orange flower to add a little sparkle. I bought the plastic character set from Disney store, and placed them on the cake. When my daughter woke up from her nap and saw this cake, she was so amazed and happy, and it was really pretty easy. It was a big hit at the party. I am only an amateur at this, and used basic techniques to achieve this cool cake.
