Why should you buy a used cake pan on eBay?

- On eBay you'll find almost every cake pan that has ever existed
- You know exactly what you're getting (and you know it'll work... ;-)
- You'll probably use it only once, so why even think about buying a new one?!

A friend of mine's son loved the movie "the Lord of the Rings" so for his birthday I created this theme birthday cake. I used a picture I found on the internet and used it as a guide to create this copy of the "White City". I baked and lightly iced a faux three tier cake pan and then covered it in fondant. I made little fondant caps for some candy white Lego pieces I found at the bulk store for the towers and then just imprinted the rest of the design.

I molded rice crispy treats to create the high tower and covered it in fondant too. I poured melted white chocolate for the White Mountain rock that apparently splits the city in two (in the movie!) Enjoy!

For this Lord of the Rings birthday cake, I baked one sheet cake and one dome (Pampered Chief Batter Bowl). I put a thick coat of dark chocolate icing.

The Black Gate around the edge of the cake is made from Keebler Fudge shop cookies. I bought the Lord of the Ring figures from the bakery. The Orcs are Mega Blocks toys. The rocks are broken chocolate graham crackers. The lava is red, orange, and yellow gel icing.
