A friend of mine saw one of your cake submissions online and wondered if I could make a topsy turvey bithday cake. This was the first crooked cake i've attempted. It was all chocolate cake with buttercream frosting.I used the equivilent of 9 cake mixes with about 15lbs of fondant.I pre thought everything before hand, so as not to forget the simple things. I made my gumpaste decorations a week in advance.I frosted the cakes a day in advance and let them set in the fridge,I colored my fondant the day before. And all i had to do was cover the cake I made a stencil for the second layer and cut my diamonds twice! And for once everything flowed smoothly, not to mention I remember to figure my math when placing the diamonds and stripes so it all lined up I had to move it in 90 degree weather.
