My husband loves birds particularly exotic ones so I decided to make a Toucan cake for his birthday. I couldn't find any bird cakes on your website so I kept it pretty simple. I found a picture of a toucan that I liked and enlarged it to suit the size of my cake tin.
I baked two square cakes, used one for the body and the other for the beak and tail then just joined them together on the cake board. The templates were easy to use particularly on the frozen cakes as they are much easier to ice. I made two lots of icing and tinted it black, red, green, blue, yellow and brown then followed the template and carefully iced the various parts of the bird. I used a licorice allsorts for the eye and some flake chocolate for the tree branch and finished it off with some plastic leaves.
