Transformers Cake

by Renee
(West Virginia)

My mom and I made this cake for my son's 5th Birthday. We used two cake pans, a 14" for the bottom layer and a 10" for the top layer. Most of the cake was covered in home-made buttercream icing. However, the shapes and balls that trim the cake were made of fondant. We topped the cake with Bumble Bee (which is my son's favorite) and added a few more smaller transformer figurines to spice it up. We were happy with the way it turned out. It was a great learning experience for us since it was our first time making a cake like this.
