I made this cake for a twins baby shower. The babies, blankets and moon/stars on sticks are make from a 50/50 mix of fontant and gum paste a few days ahead. I made the faces on the babies with a Sharpie marker. The moon/stars were coated with a thin layer of white icing a dipped in yellow sugar to look glittery. The cake is 3 layers on the inside, one pink, one white and one blue (boy/girl twins). In between the layers is bettercreme whipped topping mixed with strawberry ice cream topping. The whole cake has a thin coat of the bettercreme. The yellow fondant covering the cake is marshmellow fondant...its a much cheaper and better tasting fondant. This was also made a few days ahead. The ribbon and stars on the sides of the cake are made from store bought white fondant and "glued" on with just a touch of water. The teddie bears were made with just a bit of the left over white fondant and some brown dye. The cake is VERY heavy so I did put a couple of dowel rods under the babies. I was pleased to find that making a few of the things ahead of time made makeing the cake that day much easier and faster!!!
