Wedding Cake

by Heather
(Georgia)

This was the first cake I had ever made using fondant or a stacked design. The fondant was too sticky, so I ended up just using a buttercream frosting to cover the cake layers. The top layer was a fudge cake and the bottom layer was a marble cake. The different sized "pearls" around the bottom of the layers was made using balls of fondant. I spent HOURS making all the roses using fondant. The icing was three different shades of pink and then I used the rolling tool and foam to make the roses. Once they were drying I painted them using pink pearl dust mixed with a little bit of lemon juice. The fondant leaves were also made using a cookie cutter, the rolling tool, and foam. The cake was just stacked using wooden dowels placed into the layers. I was so happy with the way the cake turned out, although after about 8 hours of making roses I was ready to scream...haha!
