Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake

For my son’s 3rd birthday party I decided to make his favorite show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  This was my first experience working with fondant, and I can’t wait to try it again to fix all my mistakes!  I started with a sheet cake, then cooked the base of the clubhouse in a Pyrex bowl.  I iced the cake with what seemed to take a ton of green coloring to tint.  I would use an aresol spray to tint like grass next time.

After covering the house with fondant, I constructed the accessory pieces out of fondant:  shoe door, hand balloon, slide, and Minnie’s table/chairs.  Finally I used my son’s plastic toy figures to decorate the cake.  This cake was a huge success with my son, he loved it!  **I would recommend not making the hand balloon out of solid fondant as I did, it fell over before we sang to my son because it was so heavy.**
