American Legion Cake

I had just started making cakes. I wanted to do something special for my Legion to enjoy. First I got a photo of it. Then I bought some white poster board to cut out the background. By the time I was done measuring all the different measurements  and trying to cut them out, I was getting pretty upset. Nothing was going right. I wanted to quit. But I stepped back and looked again at the picture. I grabbed my coat and went to the store. I bought 2 mail boxes, one bench and a box of kids cars for the parking lot. I already had sticks from my craft box for the flag pole.

I printed all three flags off the computer and added them to the sticks. I used black sugar to make the black top on the lot. For the windows I used plastic wrap with more poster board to separate the window panes. I used white icing for the snow that was outside and green icing for the few surviving  bushes. We have a flag remover container at the front door and I cut regular white paper and make it. I cut out letters from the internet and copied the symbols from all of the different units.and attached it to the building.

This was a long day and several breaks later I finally was ready for the family to see it. I must of chased them out of the kitchen 20 times. I don’t mind saying a couple of times I was ready to throw it out the back door for the birds. But I calmed down and finished it. They loved it and a lot of people took pictures. By the way it was delicous. I’m glad I made it.
