Coolest Garden Allotment Birthday Cake

This homemade garden allotment birthday cake did take quite a bit of forward planning! I first went to my local sugar craft shop and bought some sugar paste (fondant) in brown, green, red and black. I got a large cake board.

At home I baked a 10″ square cake and left to cool while I covered the board with brown sugar-paste (fondant) mixed with a little black. Make it look like earth lumpy and bumpy! Then I made the plants, basket and dog and set to dry, just pretend you are playing with modeling clay!!

I sliced the cake into 4 squares and sandwiched together with buttercream and covered the outside with it. I then placed the walls with brown fondant and marked in the wood grain before it dried. I added a roof then cut out the door and window replacing them with black fondant. Keep the door, I doubled the thickness with another piece of fondant and marked it with extra fondant with a wood effect.

Place the homemade garden allotment birthday cake on the board and add details like the crack in the window and make the wood look damaged etc. let it all dry for a couple of hours or as I did overnight. Dust windows with silver edible shimmer dust for a glass effect ~ that’s your cake! It was for my Dad on his birthday as he loves gardening.
