Coolest Absolut Vodka Cake

I had a friend that only drinks Absolute and coke where ever we went. It was funny to me but came the time to do a birthday cake I knew the right cake to make, it had to be a bottle of Absolute!

Cutting the cake seemed simple, and it was.  Just drew it on paper and made a stencil.  Then of course I had to Google what the bottle looked like. I put a 7 in the circle as the birthday boy was born on leap day and he was 28 but in leap years he was only 7, it was my little humor coming out.  Then I did the name of the bottle with stencils and the “country of Sweden” and the “happy birthday ” I used food coloring and wrote it with a toothpick. It takes a little time but soooo worth it when it is done.  Gives it a better smaller font to make it easy to read

Every present has a bow:

This bow I wanted to stand out. I wanted it to wrap around the bottle, have great curls and of course stand on its own. That means,  make the fondant , and roll it around something to make it harden in a rolled form. I rolled it around a pillar that normally goes inside the cake.

Then I really wanted the ribbon to have a cool effect, so I had the piece on the cake roll over another pillar. After the fondant hardens you absolutely can slide the pillars right out which gives the cake such a great 3D effect.

I  loved this cake for so many reasons but most of all the ribbon.  I loved how it hardened standing on the cake in a 3D effect.  It’s the finishing touches like that, which are a bit difficult at first but then get easier, that make it all worth while and makes the cake great !
