Cute Homemade Angelina Ballerina Birthday Cake

My daughter asked for an Angelina Ballerina Birthday Cake for her third birthday. I made a chocolate cake , a Mississippi Mud Pie. Once it had cooled down, I cut a little rectangle out to fit two plain biscuits for Angelina’s body. The biscuits can be glued together with some icing, and they need to stand about halfway into the base and be quite snug in the hole, as we don’t want Angelina to be wobbly !

I made Angelina’s head, tail, arms and legs with Marzipan. I used a bit of red food colouring to dye the marzipan for her dress, her nose and her ears. A bit of liquorice for her whiskers and her eyes.

I wrapped the pink Marzipan around the biscuits for her dress. I then attached her head and limbs to the biscuits, it is easy as the Marzipan is quite sticky. I then did her tutu with some pink sugar icing.

This cake was a lot of fun to make and my daughter loved it. And of course, the most important, it tasted really nice !
