Cool Homemade Tan and Camo Army Tank Birthday Cake

For my son’s 6th birthday he wanted an Army Tank Birthday Cake. I looked on this website- as it has become my favorite for finding ideas for kids cakes! From an idea of another cake, I decided to also make mine tan (buttercream frosting mixed with peanut butter). It was the best tasting frosting yet (perfect with a chocolate cake).

I used a 9 x 13 for the base, and a loaf pan for the top. I angled the bottom of the loaf cake (to keep the smooth side nice- easier to frost). I then covered both cakes with a crumb coat (thin coat of frosting to seal in the crumbs). I froze them for about an hour and finished frosting them. I made the camouflage spots and Oreos for the wheels, black licorice for the treads as you can see from the photo.

My son was very excited- and his cousins thought it was pretty cool too!
