My colleagues and I were at a networking event where they let us play “cake boss”. Four people per team, one half sheet cake and the tools of fondant, gumpaste, buttercream. We had 45 minutes to come up with a design, carve, decorate and create a cake that did the following:
20 teams competed.
Had flowers on it
Had a unique theme
Had red writing
Had to have a figure in it of gum paste
So here is our Art Competition Cake, and yes we won the competition!
Fun things to note is the gumpaste flowers on the paint splatters and their is a gumpaste hand holding the paintbrush.
Also that paint brush handle is really dried /uncooked spaghetti bound together with gumpaste… so it looks like a real wood handle!
