Coolest Baby Einstein Caterpillar Birthday Cake

I knew I wanted to do a Baby Einstein Caterpillar Birthday Cake for my son’s 1st birthday. I started searching for ideas when I came across this website. The cakes on here were amazing. I was only hoping I could do the same.

I used a Wilton ball pan to make each section and held them together with lollipop sticks that you can buy in a craft store. I cut a little off the bottom so they would sit flat. I bought 5 different cake mixes (1 box per section). The frosting is just store bought classic vanilla. I tried making my own but it was too loose by the time the coloring was added.

To decorate the sections I used a #18 tip to make stars. I used licorice for the antennae and coconut with green food coloring for the grass around it. The feet and tail are Twinkies cut in half and frosted. Definitely make sure you use something sturdy to put the cakes on as it is quite heavy when all said and done.

I baked the cakes 2 nights before and let them cool. I frosted the night before. Give yourself plenty of time! I was very pleased with the end results. We gave my son the head as his “smash” cake. The cake was a huge hit!
