Cool Homemade Baby Einstein Caterpillar Cake Made with Wilton’s Sports Ball Cake Pan

For this Baby Einstein Caterpillar Cake I used the Wilton sports ball cake pan. I did each cake a different flavor, to give the guests a variety. I made Wilton’s standard butter cream frosting and for the red I used the “no flavor” variety. I had to use a lot of gel coloring, to get the colors so deep. For the black mouth, eyes and legs, I just combined all my leftover frosting and added a little bit of black and it came out great.

For the lettering and the antennae, I used foam sheets and stencils. I cut them out, glued toothpicks to the the back and stuck them in the cake. It took time to decorate, but it wasn’t difficult. I took coconut shavings and put green food coloring in the bag to color it to make the grass. This cake turned out very cute.
