I made this cake for my son’s birthday. The baseball was baked in Wilton’s ball pan, then covered in butter cream first, then fondant, the stitching is piped on with Wilton’s red tube icing. I ‘glued’ the cake to a 6″ cake board, which I covered in green fondant first, by using some butter cream.

The bottom of the homemade baseball birthday cake is two 10″ rounds, covered in butter cream and then fondant, I placed dowels in the bottom cake before placing the ball on top. All the cutouts are fondant, except the stars, those I made out of gumpaste.
