Cool Homemade Butterfly Cake Using Wilton’s Butterfly Pan

I used the Wilton Butterfly pan for this butterfly cake. The party Colors were lavender and green so I used the Violet coloring and made a light purple and dark purple, some yellow icing and then black for the butterfly body.

I used a star tip for the whole thing except for the eyes, mouth and other yellow “dots” you see. For those I used the #3 Wilton tip. I did the yellow dots on the butterfly wings and also all around the bottom of the purple icing and on the top where the head is. Then I dyed some coconut green and spread it all around the cake.

I had purchased some white chocolate covered strawberries that were covered in little chocolate curlicues that I placed all around the cake. Since the party theme was Enchanted Garden, I placed little fairy picks in each of the strawberries. I bought the fairy picks at a local cake decorating store. I also made the “Wilton Buttercream Icing” but used a boxed cake mix.

This was my first attempt at a star-tipped cake and while it isn’t perfect (or even perfectly symmetrical), I am hoping it will inspire others! Thanks!
