Coolest Campsite Cake

I got most of my ideas for this Campsite Cake from this website, so thanks to all of you for posting!

My son and I made this campsite cake for his cub scout cake bake off contest. It’s two 9 x 13 cakes, one yellow and one chocolate. I made my own butter cream icing. The trees are sugar cones, frosted with stiff icing using a star point. I used the same tip to make the tuffs of grass around the site as well as the edging around the bottom of the cake.

The tents are brown sugar pop tarts with chocolate icing. We used chocolate rocks we ordered online. The fire is crumbled chocolate grahams surrounded by chocolate rocks. Then we stuck in pretzel sticks and piped red and orange icing with the star tip around the pretzels. The logs are broken pretzel rods. We also added goldfish crackers and chocolate turtles to the lake.

We’re off to our pack meeting in an hour, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed. My son REALLY wants to win the contest!

  1. So our cake won at my son’s cub scout bake off for most “scout-like.” He was so excited! Thanks to everyone on this site for the great ideas. This week I will be trying to bake a cake that looks like a potted plant for my niece’s housewarming party. I will post it if it comes out okay.
