This Carnival Cake Design was made for a Sweet Sixteen Carnival themed birthday party. I used a homemade recipe for the three layers and covered it with buttercream frosting and fondant. The glittered mask were made a couple of days before from colored gumpaste and painted with edible glitter after they got hard enough.
It is preferable to do it no less than 3 days in advance (at least were there’s high humidity). I just got creative with royal icing in blue and brown to make the other details. I spent a couple of hours in the masks, one day baking and one day decorating, it was fun after all!
