Cute Homemad White Cat Birthday Cake

I made this Cat Birthday Cake for my daughter’s 1st birthday. The cake and icing had to be dairy free so she could have it so I used Duncan Hines Devil’s Food cake mix and vanilla Homestyle frosting. I first made a template and cut it into pieces to fit on 3 cakes baked in oblong pans. After baking the cakes I put them in the freezer, then I cut the pieces using the templates and a serrated knife. Then after being back in the freezer I put a thin crumb coat of frosting on all the pieces and “glued” them together with frosting.

The “fur” was made using the Wilton grass tip, the collar with the basket weave tip and the writing was a plain tip. I used Wilton icing gel dyes for the colours. The eyes and whiskers were black licorice and the nose was a red sour berry candy that I cut into a triangle.

This was the first cake I have ever made and it was very easy, just time consuming! I had a lot of fun making it and everyone at the party liked it, including the birthday girl!
