Cute Homemade Cookie Monster Face Cake Stuffed With Cookies

I wanted to make a homemade Cookie Monster cake for my son on his first birthday because he loves cookies just as much as Cookie Monster. I started with two 9-in round cakes. I placed them on top of each other with frosting in between, then I did a crumb coat over the cakes. A crumb coat is a thin layer of frosting on the cakes to make it easier to decorate without getting crumbs into your frosting.

Next, I used food coloring to dye white frosting blue and black. I used the blue to frost the cakes and used the black to make his mouth. I placed two ping pong balls on the cake for eyes and frosted them. As my final touches, I stuffed chocolate chip cookies in his mouth and around the plate.
