Cool Homemade Puff the Magic Dragon Birthday Cake

I made this Dragon birthday cake for my son’s 4th birthday party. He had a dragon theme so I went with a Puff the Magic Dragon cake.

The cake is a 3 layer chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream which I carved into the shape of the dragon’s body. The neck and tail are molded rice crispy treats. The body, neck and tail were covered in fondant. The head and details and figure of my son are molded fondant. The wings are gumpaste. The dragon is on a beach of crushed graham cracker because Puff “lived by the sea.”

My son suggested that the boy and dragon should be eating cake so I made a small chocolate cake covered in yellow fondant with a dragon bite out of it and a piece in the boy’s hand.

The kids loved it, and it tasted fantastic too!
