Coolest Dragon Cake

I was asked to make a dragon or Camelot theme cake for a friend’s birthday and I found some great ideas on this site. Thank you all. Here is my version of the dragon cake that many have done on here. It was supposed to be red but I didn’t have enough red coloring (didn’t realize I was almost out). So she got more of a pinkish dragon but she LOVED it.

Tip: The wings were made from melted candies (the colored ones at craft stores) I don’t recommend it. I got the idea from one of the dragon cakes I looked at but they were too heavy. I didn’t do them very thick but they just ripped out of the cake.

I was at Michael’s craft store and lucked out that the lady who teaches the cake decorating classes was there in the aisle with me. I was looking at the pearl dust its an edible shimmer or glitter. She gave me great info I want to share with those wanting to try it. I used it on the yellow areas of the dragon. First and for most, once it hits the cake, frosting or other area it is there for good! You cant move it. You can also add it to a liquid like lemon juice and paint with it. I just used a dry paint brush and the dust by it self not liquid and gentle tapped it to the spikes and a coat on the wings. You really can’t see it in the picture but it was nice looking.
