I made this Easter basket cake for this past Easter. I made the “basket” portion of the cake using lemon cake mix and half of the sport ball cake pan. I then shaved off about 1/2″ off the rounded edge of the cake to make a flat surface for the cake to stand.
I used buttercream icing in brown with the flat tip and red buttercream with the round tip to make the basketweave effect on the base. The top edge of the basket was made using the star tip.
I then made the grass using the grass/hair tip in green buttercream.
The handle is the “pull and tear” twizzler with toothpicks inserted in the ends. The “eggs” are the new premium M&M’s that have a speckled metallic finish.
My husband didn’t want to cut it up, so it unfortunately didn’t get eaten until about 3 days later and was starting to turn stale.
