Easy Homemade Elmo Birthday Cake for a First Birthday

I knew that for my daughter’s first birthday I had to have an Elmo birthday cake. she absolutely LOVES him. I was so disapointed with the cakes available at the store that I decided to do it myself.

We have loads of Elmo books so I looked to find him in a super sweet pose and once I found it I drew him at the size desired then copied that to wax paper. I did a “practice cake” a couple days before I planed on doing this cake to find out how to get the image onto the cake. I have read about just drawing onto the wax paper and transferring it to the cake but this didn’t work for me AT ALL (thank God for the practice cake!)

So from my wax paper image I made a stencil and used a toothpick to outline it. Then I went over my marks with my black outline. From there it was just a matter of filling him in. I used sprinkles to make it appear that he is on a rug.

This was a really fun cake to do and surprisingly easy. I just love the pose so I wanted to share it. Cause this is the site that gave me the inspiration! Hope y’all like it and get some inspiration too!
