Coolest Homemade Topsy Turvy First Birthday Cake

This First Birthday Cake is the cake I have only just finished for my little boy’s first birthday. It was made with inspiration from Lindy Smiths wonky cake. It took absolutely ages to make. About 8-10 hours in all.

You first have to shape the cakes with freezing etc, far too many details to list here but if you wanna make one, go to amazon and search for Lindy Smith and buy her book with the wonky cake on the front if it. It is a fantastic book, full of ideas and tips.

This cake was not easy to make but it was my first attempt and I am very happy with the finished cake. Just hope my little one and the rest of the family like it too.

The hardest bit was constructing it, it was hard, using dowels etc, but its quite sturdy now. I am a professional artist so I had sat and designed the cake before I made it. It has turned out better than the original drawing much to my joy.

Anyway I hope you all like the cake, maybe this will be the start of a career for me making cakes, that would be fantastic.

I’ve been nervous about trying the Topsy Turvy style but this beautiful cake really makes me want to give it a shot. Thanks for sharing!

  5. The cake is awesome. Beautiful theme. Utterly charming. I had my first solo attempt (my daughter and I usually make cakes together). last night. I am not blessed with your talent so the result is nowhere near as impressive, but seeing your wonderful cake has inspired me to keep trying. Very, very well done. If you can’t make a living at this I would be astounded.
