Coolest Guitar Birthday Cake

I made this guitar birthday cake for my daughter’s 12th birthday. She is getting too old for these cakes, but she does like “rock” music, so I figured I could get away with this one!

It started out as my little 4 year old’s “Bratz” toy guitar. She so graciously let me trace around it for a template for the cake. I then cut the template out of card board, like on the back of a notebook. I used two pieces, one for the body and the other for the neck. I then kept the toy close by to refer to when decorating.

Her favorite color was blue, so I just tinted some vanilla icing blue, used black licorice for the strings, a Kit Kat bar, chocolate eggs cut in half for the knobs, and the rest I used my icing “gun”.

I used two cake mixes in two pans and just pieced the two together after I froze them and cut them out.

This looks harder than it was. I had a lot of fun too!
