Coolest Guitar Cake

This guitar cake took a good few days to construct. The strings I would love to say were edible but they aren’t, they are made of wood painted silver.

To get the shape I drew it on a piece of paper and cut around it on the cake. I covered the board in wallpaper. Also a good trick is to add milk to the butter icing to make it thin and then you don’t get many lumps in the icing.

The trick to get the stripes is to do one at a time and use a straight edge (or ruler in my case) to push the stripes straight. The cake inside was also pink and blue! and I even have some plectrums too!

My cake definetly rocks!

  1. what i do is cover the cake with a layer of buttercream when i have carved it and that kind of acts as a seal then when i come to putting the icing on i do it with a more liquid buttercream giving the cake some more moisture, this cake was also done in layers so the buttercream on the inside also made it moist.

  2. BEAUTIFUL! Not only is your cake beautiful, it is also the neatest buttercream iced guitar cake that I’ve seen thus far. This is the kind of work that I strive to always do. Job well done.
