Coolest Guitar Cake

I made this guitar cake for my cousin’s 18th birthday. He loves to play the guitar, so I took a large piece of cardboard and traced the body of his guitar. Then I cut out the shape.

I baked a regular dark chocolate cake. Cut out around the cardboard. I froze the cake for 24 hours. It makes it easier to put the icing on without a bunch of crumbs. I took a new paint brush to brush away the crumbs that were on top.

I used white whipped icing, and food coloring to make the colors. And chocolate icing for the neck. I only used 2 different tips and an icing bag. It wasn’t hard. And not including the baking & freezing time it only took 2 hours to do.

Brett loved his cake. I think I’m going to make a guitar hero guitar for my brother’s 18 birthday!
