Coolest Hamms Beer Bear Waterfall Grooms Cake

This Hamms Beer Bear Waterfall Grooms Cake is an applesauce cake underneath. I found a picture of a Hamm’s Beer barrel head advertising sign. I reversed it and resized it to fit on a 12 inch cake. I used buttercream transfer to outline and then filled in the rest of the picture. I put fondant around the outside edge to look like the wood of a barrel (could have done a better job on that but not so good with fondant yet). This was the first time I tried transferring a picture and I learned a few things.

1–Parchment paper probably works better than wax paper for transferring designs.

2–Give myself extra time when trying something new. (This was a groom’s cake for a friend and I ended up staying up all night to finish it on time.)

3–Be careful of how much detail your design has; if this cake had been any smaller, it wouldn’t have turned out as well as it did.

4–Even when things don’t turn out the way you planned–keep trying. Everyone thought it was great and it’s the coolest cake I’ve made so far.
