This Handbag Birthday Cake is a cake I made for my mum’s birthday, about two years ago now. Fairly straight forward, two sponge cakes sandwiched together with jam and buttercream. Cut the whole cake in half and stuck the two halves together, with buttercream, flat side down on cake board or plate and covered with fondant. The one problem that occurred was the fondant did sag around the bottom slightly, but at the time I was using jam to stick the fondant to the cake, and now I use buttercream, jam never sets and always stays sticky.
The details are just fondant, edible silver balls, and the handle is just an arc of wire with white paper.
