Cute Homemade Handbag Birthday Cake

This is a picture of my daughter’s 5th birthday cake I made for her birthday today, actually its the practice one, will be making another Handbag Birthday Cake for her party on Saturday. I’m stoked with how it turned out as I’ve never made one like this before, a girl at work yesterday had a magazine and found this cake recipe in it and showed me and I was keen as to give it a go.

I baked a simple round banana cake last night, then cut it in half today, made some butter cream icing and stuck the 2 sides together, then I lathered it over the cake after I had shaped it, then used royal white icing to cover the cake in sections, used the back of a knife to get the criss-cross effect, used red food colouring to make the icing pink, also decorated it with those little cachous silver balls, also used wire to thread the marshmellos to make the handle for the handbag x

It was loads of fun and the effort was well worth the look on my 5yr olds face.
