Coolest Handyman Cake

This Handyman cake is a 20cm butter cake I made for a little boy turning 3. I also had to make another cake (under the sea) for his twin brother! The icing is buttercream and the bricks, sign, tape measure and nails are fondant.

The tools are made from white and dark chocolate. When making the sign I tinted the fondant light brown then cut it to shape. Marked the planks of wood with a ruler then made the wood grain effect with a toothpick. I then mixed some brown food colouring with vodka and brushed it over.

Was an easy cake to make and lots of fun. Thanks for looking.

  1. Really a fabulous looking cake. I loved it. I am trying to bake a tool cake for my 3 yr old grandson. I was looking for the molds for the candy tools did you make them? If not where did you get them? I called Michaels they did not have them.
