Cool Homemade Hawaiian Luau Cake

I made this Hawaiian Luau Cake for my grandaughter’s 10th birthday. She wanted a luau cake and she told me the way she wanted it. She would like a beach, palm trees, tiki bar, an umbrella, sandals and dolphins.

I made the beach with piping gel and the sand with brown sugar. The tiki bar is edible (almost everything). The Hut and the large cake were covered all around with wafer logs. I made the umbrella, sandals, fishes, the stools and dolphins with fondant.

The bases of the large cake were three fishbowls with real fishes. The hibiscus were made with fondant too.

  1. I would like to see more pics of how you constructed this with the fish bowls. I am thinking the pic doesn’t do this cake justice. It’s awesome.

  2. Wow! this cake had fishbowls underneath it! That is amazing! Never thought of that but it is a good idea! Did the fish die? I would love to do this but scared the fish would die if they didn’t get enough air!
