Coolest Hello Kitty Cake

For my daughter’s fourth birthday, she wanted a Hello Kitty party. That seemed like a good opportunity to try making a tiered cake!

I used marshmallow fondant with tylose powder to form the Hello Kitty topper and the flat Kitty’s on the sides of the bottom tier. I used fondant without tylose for the polka dots and tiny flowers. The letters are done with a set of cutters I bought on eBay.

The pink frosting is strawberry. I made cooked flour frosting and then ground up dried strawberries in a spice grinder to add a natural strawberry flavor and color. It was de-lish. I will definitely try that again. Next time, though, I’ll put the flat Kittys up against the pink frosting, I think they blend in too much with the white.
